KINDLE II

Posted on March 16, 2009.

Kindles are devices that allow you to download books and read them on a special screen instead of on paper. Many readers who loved traditional paper books tried a Kindle one time and loved it. They say that it is nothing like reading text from a computer screen, which as some know hurts your eyes after a while. Many say that reading from a Kindle is even more comfortable than a regular book.

The main attributes of the Kindle II are its invisibility to the user, its comfortable grip, and the accesibility to new literature. Also, the Kindle II has the capability to sync book, or other parts of books, onto other kindle devices and, in the near future, your cell phone. This feature would make it so that when you have those unexpected ten minutes to read while waiting for something, you just turn on your phone and there’s your book!

Another new feature is text -to-speech. Now your Kindle can hold and play audio books, too. This way, when you’re right at the good part of your book but you have to leave, you can set your Kindle to play an audio book and listen to it in the car. All in all, the Kindle II seems to be a very well-made decice, meant to be comfortable yet easy to use. The only downside is that it does not have a color display. This would make it too bulky. Further, not all books on the market are available through the Kindle.

In this blog, please answer the following questions about the above current events topic:

1. Make an inference. In your own words, what does it mean when to sync books?

2. In your opinion, will Kindle or other similar devices someday replace books?

3. If Kindles, with their easy to read screens, could download or run computer applications such as Microsoft Office, would you buy it rather than a personal computer? Why or why not.

To sinc books is to connect them to the Kindle so you can read them. I don’t think kindle will ever
replace books, I wouldn’t want it to.
Personally I like to turn the pages not scroll.
I also like the smell of books ^-^ I wouldn’t
buy one instead of a PC because it wouldn’t
have a keyboard. I don’t like to type on a
touch screen.

i think to sync boks means to copy. i dont think kindle or other divices will replace books. i think i would rather have a pesrsonal computer because the screan is bigger. i dont think i would get a kindle over a book either because reading is fun and good for you, people are alredy getting lasy… why make it easier??? if anyone can give me a resonable answer as to why maybe i will change my mind, but until then i am staying with my opinion on this…

To sync books means to download them onto the Kindle Program. I doubt that Kindle will replace books becuase it is simpler and easier to just read a normal book. Also, it is fun to curl up with a book by the fire and jsut read on cold winter days. I would buy kindles if they could download or run computer applications because they have nice screens.

In my own words, to sync books means to copy them to something else. I don’t think that the Kindle will someday replace books, because what would the Kindle copy from? The Kindle can only hold the memory for so many books, and however much space the Kindle has, the amount of books will always be more plentaful. if Kindles could download computer applications, I would still buy a personal computer, because Kindles are smaller, yes more convenient to carry, but also easier to steal

i completley agree with number 46, because there stating true information, and it makes alot of sence. i also agree that sync(ing) means to copy, and or steal. I hope that kindle wont replace books because personally i really enjoy books, and being able to lay down and read, and not have to use a touch screen to flip pages, ( i dont enjoy touch screens.) i would also much rather have a personal computer because again, i dont like the touch screen as much as a mouse and it is easier to make mistakes on the touch screen rather then the mouse and key board.

I think that to “sync books” it means to download more books onto the Kindle. I don’t think that the Kindle will replace books. Personal computers have more room for needed applications or games, so I don’t think the Kindle will ever replace personal computers.

i think that the kindle 2 is kool. if people
say that it helps them read better without
hurting there eyes. then it is something that
we should all try. it is beter for people that
get tierd of waithing for a book at the library.
it is a ggod way to get the book that we want

a complete waste! take some initiative, walk to the library and get some exercise. its no different, all it is is a book on a different format.

i think it is just a book on a moniter.
but whats so ever i still thinks it’s usefull and interesting.
But overall i think that it is a money waster.

I think that to sync books means to have the audio and your reading set to the same pace so that when you can’t read anymore but still lisen the audio picks up right where you left off. I always thought that the kindle would be like reading off a computer screen but now that i know a little bit more about the kindle a would like to try one to really see how well it works. I do not think that the kindle could replace books because hard copy books are solid and not downloads which can be deleted. Also, if the kindle got Microsoft Office i do not think i would buy it rather than a personal computer because a computer is almost always plugged into a printer while a wireless device wouldn’t be so it would just be easier to have a computer. The only exception to this would be if the kindle was easy to hook up to a printer than mabye it would be more perferable than a PC.

i think the kindle is useful on some occasions but most of the time it’s not.

To sync books means to like connect it to your
kindle so it can get all the text thats in the
book. In my opinion, kindle probably wont
replace the regular book. No i would not buy a
kindle if it were able to use microsoft
applications because i enjoy using apple applications
(Ex: Itunes, Iphoto, and Imovie)

To Sync a book to the Kindle, means to download and save the book onto your device. Also, to #46, the Kindle would be able to hold multiple books, and as soon as yours got full, you would just delete some books. Also, it means that as soon as you finish your book, but still have extra time, instead of carrying around a ton of big bulky books, you just have one slim comfortable device. I agree that the Kindle will not replace the PC, but devices of roughly this size and shape could possibly replace the pc in the far future. The Kindle will most likely take over much of the book market, but books will never go extinct. they are to engrained into our culture and traditions.
