Choose one of the following main characters to reflect upon… Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Bill Gates. At this point in the movie you have seen all of them start out at ground zero and develop their businesses into lucrative, multi-million/billion dollar companies. What personal qualities enabled them to be successful? At what point did they seize an opportunity and make it work for them? How did fortune and fame affect their lives and/or personalities? Did fortune and fame affect their lives/personalities?

Steve Jobs was successfull because he know how to talk to the people. When Steve started to get famouse he started to be mean, he yelled at his employees, and nothing was ever good enough for him. Everything needed to be prefect to make Steve happy.
October 15, 2007
Some personal qualities that Steve Jobs had was that he wasnt really one to care about what others thought. He was just doing what he had the drive to do. Fame and fortune affected Steve Jobs in the way that it does to most young celebrities. He let all the money and fame go to his head and he became very rude and controlling of everyone around him. So yes fame and fortune affected their lives trumendously.
October 15, 2007
I think that the reasond that Steve Jobs was so sucessful was he because he was a very intelligent buisness man. He knew what he was doing, he wasn’t afraid to try new things. He knew how to make the consumers happy. He set very high standards for his employees, which really made his compnay succesful. fortune and fame seemed to make Steve Jobs a tougher person, and easier to please. It made him seem like fortune and fame was more important than his family, which is one aspect of Steve Jobs that I really didn’t like.
October 15, 2007
Bill Gates was manipulative and very persuasive.
Bill Gates had to have been affected by fame, but I dont belive that it changed his personality all to much.
October 15, 2007
Steve Jobs is successful, but he’s not someone I’d like to meet. He seems like someone who would be a con artist if he was not successful. I’m greatful to him that we have personal computers though.
October 15, 2007
I believe that Bill Gates was a very tricky person, and that helped him to get to where he is today. When Steve Jobs gave Bill Gates and his company three prototypes of the Macintosh, Bill took the oppertunity to “steal” some of the software inside, thus allowing him to get his version of the software out on the market before Apple could. When Bill Gates became the richest man in the world, I don’t believe that the fame and fourtune changed him like the fame changed Steve Jobs. Bill gives to charity, and spends time with his family.
October 15, 2007
Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Bill Gates are all very different but the same in many ways.
I believe Steve Jobs was successful because he was the type of person to change his whole lifestyle to fit in, also he was the only one who cared enough to put on a suit and tie to look professional. He was brilliant too. Steve jobs were extremely persuasive as well.
Bill Gates was the kind of person to not even care if he was wearing the same thing he slept in. Appearance ment nothing to him, but he did have the drive to be the better person no matter how many computers he sold. But deep down he wanted to be the more successful one and in the long run was.
Steve Wozniak I think was just kind of there for the ride. He did have some opinions but was not strong enough to stand up for them.
I think stealing from other companies is wrong but nothing would be successful. That’s what made them successful.
Yes fortune and fame did effect there lives, but Steve Jobs mostly because he got more angry and took it out on other people.
October 16, 2007
Someone beside Steve Jobs should have invented the personal computer. His poor employees were mistreated and worked way too long. I bet they didn’t get payed very much either.
October 22, 2007
I think that it would be cool to learn more about bloging and stuff like that. I am glad that we have it to cause it is fun and neat to mess with them.
March 7, 2008
i think that Steve Jobs made a dent in the world by changing the technology and creating new technology to enhance the technology of that time.
March 14, 2008
I agree with 132 because he wasnt really one to care about what others thought.
March 14, 2008
Poor Steve Wozniak. He was only pushed around by Steve Jobs at Apple, and he was the more passive of thwe two. i guess that’s sortof what cause him to get all the heat from Jobs. i don’t think the fortune got to him at all. And even if it did, then he got sick of it. I think he’s better off teaching rather than working with a madman like Jobs.
March 18, 2008
Well for Steve Jobs one personal qulities that allowed him to get success is that he was very aragont. The power and fortune effected him becuase he became a controle freak and he worked his workers until they all hated him.
March 18, 2008
steve jobs was succseful because he know how to handle people but when he got more known he started being meanhe made his people work all night and he was still being mean to them. i think i did affect his personalilties

March 18, 2008
bill gates is a smart man and liked to explore new things. that could have helped him become famous and rich and invent new things. without apple co. microsoft wouldnt have been able to make the computors and without microsoft apple wouldnt be anywhere
March 18, 2008
I think that Steve Jobs had a lot of determination, and that really helped him get big and famous. But once he was there, he didn’t really have a greater goal. I think he just couldn’t accept this and got mad, then took it out on everyone else.
March 18, 2008
Steve jobs started with nothing and made it out.
with nothing. Beacuse he wasnt going for what
him happy, and he touck it out on this workers
wicth is not the right thing to do. . .
March 18, 2008
i think that bill’s skill as a business man
and talking people in to things really helped
him be successful. i think the fame and fortune
didn’t really affect his personality. steve
jobs on the otherhand, his fame and fortune
really affected his personality
March 18, 2008
Bill Gates was succesful because he helped create microsoft. Bill made microsoft work for him i thinks when steve jobs got fired from apple becasue then apple went to work with microsoft, appl ewas apart of Bill Gates buisness now. I dont think fortune adn fame affected them all that much, I guess Bill would pobebly get sick of people either running and screaming mean things at him or even just soo happy to see him, it probebly got annoying.
March 18, 2008
I chose Steve Jobs because he was very selfish and that helped him be very successfull because people that are selfish strive for what they want, and really want it badly. He wanted to be in charge and wanted people to do almost everything perfectly, this has changed since than because he got fired and now he works there again and now he isnt under control and cant really tell people what to do. Steve Jobs is still very successful just dosent have control anymore. I think fortune and fame changed his life by him wanting control when he was just getting famous and he wanted credit for everything..
March 18, 2008
i think that steve jobs was too harsh and didnt
care what other people thought. but he made the
people work extra hard so thats probably how he
got his succes. i think what he did to his workers
was wrong but he did it for the right reasons and
did it so he can be succsessful.
March 18, 2008
does every one agree that when the three people got rich, it got to their heads?
March 18, 2008
Steve jobs was a smart man that knew how to get
people to like him and trust him. He was mean to
his employees and yelled at them for no good
reason, but he didn’t really know how to control
his anger as well as he could have as well as bill
gates could make him calm and have steve trust
him when he shouldn’t be trusted
March 18, 2008
I think Steve Jobs was sucessful because he
had such high standards for his employees.
When Steve Jobs was rich and famous he started
to become a jerk. He did whatever he wanted to
do and he was mean to his employees.
March 18, 2008
To: 159
That’s not true. Apple was still going places without Microsoft. Apple didn’t even know what Microsoft was until Steve Jobs met Bill Gates.
March 18, 2008
I think that Bill Gates was so successful
becuase he was a very tricky guy. This helped
him be so successful. He could talk someone
into giving him a million dollars if he wanted.
He knew how to say things just right to
convince the person to give in. As in the movie’
when he told Steve Jobs “We are just one big
family”. The whole family thing told Steve that
Bill was helping him out in a way. But really
he was trying to get the Macintosh. Bill Gates
didnt really care about all his money. He never
dressed very fancy and didnt care if he had
sweaty arm pits for a photo shoot. No, i dont
think fame and fortune had an affect on his
life. All though, today he probably is happy
with all his work and money that he has made.
March 18, 2008
i also think that you should not judge Steve jobs too harshly, he is having a hard time, he is still human you know, and he has problems like everyone else, like his girlfriend having a baby.
March 18, 2008
Steve Jobs was a successful man. Fame and fortune did chang him, but not tooo much. It made him a little too much like a control freak. He always wanted credit for EVERYTHING. With out Apple, Microsoft wouldnt be anywhere. The teo companies helped eachother out.
(:
March 18, 2008
I second 141. Apple had a head start before anyone even knew about microsoft.
March 18, 2008
steve jobs started from the buttom and he did evrything he could to make it to the top. he was always the one who reprsented the things he helped make and he was very good at that.when they did get famous it got to steve he changed his whole personality he got mean and bossy and everyone got tirded of it.
March 18, 2008
so, to wrap it up, say yes if you agree that when the 4 people (Jobs, Wozniak, Gates, and Allen) got rich it got to their head.
March 18, 2008
they had confedence in what they were doing and did what ever it took to to make the first computer, and they didnt let anything get in there way. When steve jobs was famous it affected his life in many different ways, like he would yell at all of his employees and he he just basically let all of this fame and fortune go to his head and he never went to vist his daughter lisa until a year after she was born and it really affected his life
March 18, 2008
154, what do you mean?
March 18, 2008
Steve Jobs and Bill Gates personal qualities
we’re getting what they want. The point they made
it work for them is when the businsesses start.
Both Bill Gates and Steve Jobs personalities chage
becaues of money and started to be push.Steve Wozniak
didn’t chage that much.
March 18, 2008
I think that because Steve Jobs was so pushy
he was able to obtain great deals and
opertunities for sucess. And Bill Gates was
to make people think they needed what he had.
Gates was able to make IBM think they needed a
disk operating system that he didn’t actualy
have yet. As they all became more wealthy
Steve Wazniak bought and crashed a plane.
And Jobs with power became like a tyrant
to his company and he even cause Wazniak to
leave his side. But Gates, Allen, and Wazniak
still tried to remain the same.
March 18, 2008
who’s 141
March 18, 2008
to 159,
what is up with all of the smiley faces?
March 18, 2008
Okay. The main character i chose was Steve Jobs and just let me tell you, he annoyed me so bad!!!! He was so arragant and fame really got to him even though no one liked him anyway!!! Anyway, Steve Jobs personality was that he always wanted the best for himself which kind of helped other people. I guess that is a good quality. He needs to be closer and nicer to his family though.
March 18, 2008
159
Has way to many smiley faces…It makes me mad!
I think it is kinda of funny though how Bill
Gates is a really good person now but before he
was always getting in trouble like the 2nd picture
shows
March 18, 2008
ok first 159 did to many smiles ( =] ) so
as i was saying Steve Jobs knew how to talk
to people making him more sucessful.
March 18, 2008
I agree with #132 because fame and fortune made
Steve Jobs mean and controlling. It changed his
point of view on life from being an unsuccessful
regular guy to a wealthy successful man. Power
and wealth can change people dramatically weather
it’s in a good or bad way, his was a bad sort of way
that got him fired at first.
March 18, 2008
I agree with 132 Steve jobs did let the fame and fortune go to his head
March 18, 2008
Bill Gates- Bill has many qualities thta made him a successful business man. He is persuasive, and he can get people to accept his propositions. He is a very professional man. He is always presentable, and he doesn’t yell at his co-workers. Steve Jobs, on the other hand, doesn’t have as many qualities. He gets angry and he is’t always business-like.
March 18, 2008
I think Steve Jobs is selfish. Also, 136,
those aren’t smiley faces. They’re actaully
grinning faces.
March 18, 2008
I think that the personal qualities that enabled them to be successful were the qualities that caused the movie
to be called “Pirates of Silicon Valley.” Both
Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, the main players of t
the movie, had very opportunistic personalities.
The other players were just followers.
Steve Jobs, however, was opportunistic in a gentler
way, being opportunistic only to acheive his
dream of family, of closeness. To acheive that
end he was selfish. Bill Gates was
opportunustic in a greedier way. He made people
need him, scavenging to survive. His survival.
Steve Jobs was just an obstacle.
greedy way. He was
scavenging, making people need him
March 18, 2008
I agree with 880 and also with 798.
March 18, 2008
Bill Gates’s qualities that enabled him to be successful were that he was persuasive so he got what he wanted. Fortune and fame affected his life by making him more responsible, but still having fun. And I agree with 171and 148
p.s. I like the smiley faces.
March 18, 2008
I chose Bill Gates because he is a smart man. He was laughed at and look where he is now! He created Microsoft and is one of the richest people in the world!! It must of been hard for him because Steve Jobs was accusing him of stealing things from Apple, but I believe he didnt. I admire Bill Gates because he has created a company and device that is so magnificint that we wouldnt be where we are today without him!
March 18, 2008
i also agree with 880
March 18, 2008
I choose steve jobs. I chose him because i think that the fortune and power effected him the most. He was so caught up in his work and being so powerful he neglected his only daughter Lisa and wasnt very nice to the mother of his child. He was also a hippocrit because he made fun of IBM and how they all were the same and he critisized the high life. But later on he started to addopt that kind of living. He bought a suit and shaved his beard and acted the part.
P.S. Love the smiley faces!!
March 18, 2008
267 has a point fame got to him and he turned
in to a jerk.
he coul of been more kind to his friends
AND family.
:@ = mad face
March 18, 2008
haha what up with all the smiley faces kinda annoying
March 18, 2008
I completely disagree with student #911. Yeah, Steve Jobs was very successful, but he did NOT know how to talk to people! He was rude and disrespectful towards people he thought had no “culture”. I think the character trait that helped Bill Gates become so successful was that he could talk to people in a way everyone could relate. He knew how to convince people that he was right really well, and this helped him to get new technology that was needed. I really respect Bill Gates after watching this movie because I don’t think fame and fortune affected him personality like it did Steve Jobs’.
March 18, 2008
Steve Wozniak was the secret behind Steve Jobs’s success. He was the computer genius and without him, Steve JJobs’s would be no where without him. I also like how he left his life of fame and being rich to helping kids learn more about computers, he was a joker who just followed Steve Jobs because Steve was his friend, but I think Steve Wozniak was a much better person.
March 18, 2008
ok 159…your very weird.
I think that Steve Jobs was very successful
bacause he knew how to talk to people but he
could be more nicer to his friends and family
every tried their hardest to help him.
blah……
March 18, 2008
Yo, 159, CHILL OUT WITH THE SMILEY FACES!
March 18, 2008
I think that bill gates is kinda rude and selfish but i am glad he helped make computers.
he is lucky that he is a rich man.
March 18, 2008
The personal qualities of Bill Gates such as
his hyperness and also how he did not care
that he wrecked his friend’s car, were not
very helpful to his becoming a millionaire,
but I think that his ambition to get where he
wanted really helped him get rich and become
successful. When there was an opportunity for
Bill Gates to work with Apple he seized it,
and the opportunity was a good one for him
because it helped him see what he needed for
his computer, even if he did steal. I do not
think that fortune and fame affected Bill
Gates’ personality because at the end of the
movie I believe he still had the same attitude
and traits as in the beginning. I also agree
with number 171 and that Bill Gates was very
persusive and manipulative because he used
these traits on Steve Jobs to make him believe
he didn’t steal from Apple.
March 18, 2008
I agree with 880 too
March 18, 2008
i agree with 144
=D
March 18, 2008
I think that Bill Gates was a push over in the move.
Wile being yelled at he still tryed to make or still did what he they said. But he didnt stand up for him self tell the very end and even then he still didnt do much.
March 18, 2008
The personal qualities enabled them to be
successful were determination, confidence,
and persuasiveness. The point when they
seized an opportunity and made it work for
them was at the times when they had the
convention. Fortune and fame affected their
lives and personalities in completely opposite
ways for Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Bill Gates
sill did not care much about his appearance,
yet Steve Jobs started dressing up and working
his employees for many(90) hours a week.
March 18, 2008
Steve jobs had a personality that was calm but as soon as he started getting rich he was mean and crule to the people he worked with until he got a reality cheek.
March 18, 2008
Steve Wozniak is a good example of fortune affecting him. He bought his own plane and crashed it.Wouldn’t he think of taking flying lessons? I could relate to him leaving Apple because of Jobs yelling at him. Hey # 159, what is up with the smiley faces???
March 18, 2008
Bill Gates was successful but was always having a hard time gitting started. He and his friends were always put down . He and his friends were going in to microsoft and bote apple and now control it but they became succsesful by bing computer companys. Bill is a very rich and powerful man. No not relly but it kind of affected Stive Jobs live because he said he did not have a daughter and after he was frierd he finaly accepted her into his famely.
March 18, 2008
i agree with person 119
March 18, 2008
I agree with 911 because he did know how to talk to people and was a great business man.
March 18, 2008
I agree with #798 because he tricked people and
knew how to be a smart buissness man. Fame affected
their personalities steve jobs started to think that the buisness was more important than his girlfriend and daughter. This was something I didn’t like
because it made him rude and very careless other people
and their feelings.
March 18, 2008
Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were artists
They also never stopped trying.
March 18, 2008
I think that steve jobs was very succesful in life until he strated to get famouse.i agree with #495
March 18, 2008
I think that steve jobs was very succesful in life until he started to get famouse.i agree with #495
March 18, 2008
I think that steve jobs was very succesful in life until he started to get famouse.i agree with #495.I think he lost something very preciouse for quiet some time his daughter
March 18, 2008
they are artists
March 18, 2008
i dident see the movie.
March 18, 2008
steve jobs is successful because he got a whole company early in his carer. He also made a lot of money when he wasn’t fired.
March 18, 2008
whoes 141? you dont dissagree with me. ha! and yes i did do alot of smilys
March 19, 2008
to 182 that is not true microsoft was better than apple at the time. i think that microsoft is better because they make computers and we need them and the also make video games and we need those too. apple only really makes ipods and stuff like that.
March 19, 2008
i think that jobs is a nut head i really dont like him i like gates. jogs is really mean to him employes and if i was one i wuolf qit if he yelled at me and called me worthless.
March 19, 2008
Bill Gates was a very manipulative and very persuasive.
Bill Gates had to have been affected by fame, I belive that it changed his personality and what everone that knew him thought his personality was.I think he has changed alot.
March 19, 2008
i think that poeple who are rich and famous are
big snobs because they think they are big shots
but really they are big jerks
April 14, 2008
i think they sould give me all thier money because they dont diserve it since they basicaly stole for thier money.
March 12, 2009
Steve Jobs personal qualitites that enabled him to be successful were that he was kind of rude, and mean, but he knew how to get things done. He also was smart, which is needed in the computer world. He got really snobby and stuff though after he got all rich, and was really not nice to his employees…
March 12, 2009
i think that personally Steve jobs has improved the
most because in the begging steve was being mean to his gf
and in the end he was being nice to her and accepted
Lisa as his daughter
March 12, 2009
i think that bill gates was a genius that he could get anything from anything because he gt to the person good side.
March 12, 2009
I think that the opportunity that Steve Jobs seized was taking Xerox’s mouse and graphics. I think he was very lucky in finding this chance, because, from what i understand, he got it all for free.
March 12, 2009
I think that they were both pretty messed up but
they strighted out towards the end.
March 12, 2009
I think that steve jobs was a total jek all the time and was only thiking about himself!! I think that Steve wozniac made a good choice about leaving and not going with the crowd.
March 12, 2009
I think that steve jobs was a total jek all the time and was only thiking about himself!! I think that Steve wozniac made a good choice about leaving and not going with the crowd.
March 12, 2009
I had no idea who steve jobs was. now i know who he is and i deffinatly look up to him, i apreciate the fact that even though he started at “ground zero” he had enough potential to really full fill his dream… he is definatly an insperational figure to me. i hope that one day i will be able to do the same
March 12, 2009
i think that bill gates is so smart that he can take anything from anyone
March 12, 2009
i liked Steve Jobs because he yelled a lot.
he also knew what he wanted. he was always
making a new computer program or software.
steve job made all the power that he had go
into his head. he was a great person but he
did want 2 respond to Arlene and his baby
daughter Lisa. finally steve jobs accepted
Lisa and she became part of his family.
March 12, 2009
i think steve jobs is a total loser
March 12, 2009
But Steve has changed and he seems like a nice guy now. I’m glad he went back and accepted his daughter into his family
March 12, 2009
i agree with 21 they were both pretty messed up
March 12, 2009
i think that because Bill Gates was so persuaasive made him successful
March 12, 2009
I think that the qualities that Bill Gates has, that helped him be succesful, are that he is very smart, and he is willing to do almost anything to get ahead, and get Microsoft up and running.
March 12, 2009
Steve Jobs was very smart and knew how to run a
business until he got rich. Then he wanted
everything perfect. Steve got very mad when he
didn’t get what he wanted. He yelled at his
employees and expected them to work 90 hours
per week. That is like 18 hours a day. Then he
got fired. After that he was nicer and he made
Lisa (the person) part of his family.
March 12, 2009
steve jobs- A very smart young man. he got far because he knew how to talk to people. his down fall was he was to mean a person. i sespect it was his acid trips making him so rude and uncareful.
March 12, 2009
that movie was kinda dumb!!!!
March 12, 2009
Steve Jobs was succsself because he had that type of personality that knew exactly what to say and was a hard worker. Being hard working and being able to talk through any situation helped him out with apple. But after he became famous it went to his head and he became mean and selfish. Everythng was about him and his family.
March 12, 2009
Steve Jobs had lots of anger issues that made not som much of a people person.
i think fortune and fame did affect their life and attitudes.
March 12, 2009
bill gates is weird and will blow up if he doesnt get his way (me: crazy madman!!! run for your lives!!!!) (lol)
March 12, 2009
i agree w 50 or 56
March 12, 2009
